Average Ticket

The term “Average ticket” is also known as “Average Sales Ticket” or the abbreviated “AVT.”. Most merchant account applications require this dollar amount from merchants. With all items included in a typical final sale, their average dollar amount represents the “Average Ticket”. This provides vital information to processors, who can then make a judgement when rating how much of a risk the merchant is to them. With sales amounts being quite different, it’s often difficult for a merchant to arrive at this average ticket amount, particularly those who are just starting out. Quite often processors need only an estimate, not the exact figure.
